SCARECROW COMPETITION – HALLOWE’EN 2016

On Friday the 28st October 2016 the Cedarwood Trust is running a ‘Scarecrow Competition’ throughout the Estate. Your scarecrow can be anything from the traditional scarecrow in dungarees and checked shirt to a themed scarecrow, the more colourful the better!

How do I enter? It’s simple, just fill in and return the attached application form (so that the judges can find your scarecrow for the judging!) and have your scarecrow assembled by 11:30am on Friday the 28st October 2016– judging will take place early afternoon of the 31st.

Who can enter? Anybody living on the Meadow Well Estate can enter. This competition is not open to Cedarwood Trust employees or any person involved in the running of the competition, or their immediate family members. Entrants under the age of 16 must obtain permission from their parent/guardian before entering.

What are the rules for making my scarecrow?

• Your scarecrow must be made from scratch.
• Your scarecrow must be able to withstand all weather conditions.
• Your scarecrow should be a maximum height of 1.8m.
• Your scarecrow must include an element of plant material.
• You may use props or accessories to enhance your scarecrow.
• Have fun and give your scarecrow a personality!
• Your scarecrow must have a name and a description.
• You must live on the Meadow Well Estate of North Shields.
• You are encouraged to use recycled materials.

The organisation and judging of this competition is controlled by The Cedarwood Trust and the decision of the Judging Panel is final no correspondence will be entered into. At all times we reserve the right, in the event of circumstances arising outside of our control which in our opinion makes it necessary, to cancel or change the competition at any stage.

There will be a pop-up Scarecrow building workshop held at the Cedarwood Trust on Monday 24th October where staff can give tips and support to families wishing to take part in creating their own scarecrow.

How will my scarecrow be judged? A selection panel will judge your entry on Friday the 28st October 2016

What award will I get? Prizes will be made as follows and will be presented at 1pm on Friday 28th October 2016 at the Cedarwood Centre.

• 1st prize - £50 gift voucher
• 2nd Prize - £30 gift voucher
• 3rd Prize - £20 gift voucher
